Concept: Autonomation

Abstract

Autonomation is a lean concept that is basically automation taken to the next level. An autonomated thing not only has the capability to be automatic but also has the property of being able to run completely unattended and unmonitored.

Body

Autonomation is a critical aspect of creating a class of databases. Without autonomation, manual inspection and intervention becomes too great a temptation to resist. That manual intervention actually ends up making database construction less reliable, not more.
